The most wonderful time of the year shouldn’t be spent alone. That’s why across the globe, families and friends far and wide gather to appreciate moments spent together. While feasting may be at the heart of the holiday season, there are plenty of other fun activities for the season. From playing games to charity work, here are a few activities that’ll get the whole family in the holiday spirit.
Bell Pong
Keep your guests amused with this reindeer game: Toss The Jingle Bell. Place some holiday themed cups in the center of the table, then grab a set of jingle bells. Each participant then takes a turn trying to toss bells into each of the cups. The person to toss a bell into every cup the fastest wins.
If you want to increase the difficulty, have your guests stand further away from the table. To protect the table from any spills, adorn it with a table cover that doubles as decor for holiday dining.
Perfect Harmony
After sprucing your backyard with custom covers for the season, how about livening up the space with a neighborhood caroling concert? Get your kids in on the fun by singing more contemporary classics.
While traditional caroling involves taking your act on the road, you can simply invite guests on your block to your outdoor living area for an evening of good company, great songs, and fully embracing the holiday season.
Run Run Rudolph
As your family and friends enjoy scrumptious food outdoors, double up on the fun with a Rudolph relay race.
First, divide your guests into teams. Then, set up half of each team on a line, right beside a grill you’ve decorated with a weatherproof grill cover. Across, place the remaining team members in another line across the yard. Then, hand a stuffed Rudolph toy to each team.
On the count of three, have participants race to the other side while balancing their Rudolph on their heads. Once the participant reaches the other side, they must pass the Rudolf to another member of the team, who’ll run back to the original side. The first team to get through every member wins.
Fun in the Snow
Enjoy the snowy landscape by engaging in fun snow activities. Snowball fights, making snowmen, and building snow forts are great ways to put the snow on your porch to good use. Of course, make sure to weatherproof your patio beforehand with custom covers to enjoy the recreational activities worry free.
Hold Sled Races
If you want to sweat off the post-dinner slump, you should hold a holiday sled race. Have your guests bring their sleds to your event, then line everyone up at the top of a hill. Make sure everyone is a safe distance apart to mitigate any mid race accidents.
On the count of three, have everyone slide down. The first to the bottom wins!
Get Roasted
There’s nothing better than roasting marshmallows and chestnuts together with family and friends. For some outdoor cheer, have your friends and family sit around your fire pit and roast in the roaring blaze. Make the event nice and cozy with soft pillows and throws, or with a custom TV cover, hold a Christmas movie marathon.
Christmas Cookie Decoration Contest
You can’t have Christmas without some delectable, decorative Christmas cookies. Try turning this activity into a contest and vote to see who got the most creative decorating their home-baked goodies. Reward the winner with an extra bag of candy. This activity can also work with making gingerbread houses.
Boxing Day Bliss
Just because Christmas is over doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a little more fun with your family. Kids of all ages will love the family time of using leftovers from Christmas in a culinary brunch contest.
You can do boys vs. girls, mummy and son against daddy and sister, or any other varying team pairings. Use the trimmings and leftover scraps from your Christmas feast to create delectable brunch omelets with turkey, irresistible croque monsieur with ham, or a fluffy french toast casserole using leftover eggnog. Respect your elders by letting Gram and Papa sit back and judge the food.
