Our dads are our superheroes, and it is important to show them how much we appreciate all the love and support that they have given us throughout our lives. This year, give your dad a day he will never forget by getting creative with your Father’s Day planning. You won’t even have to leave your home to create the experience of a lifetime.
With a little brainpower and determination, you can throw the event of the year – because your dad deserves the best and nothing less.
The S’More the Merrier
Bring the joy of the great outdoors to your backyard by making a personalized campsite. Set up tents, sleeping bags, outdoor cushions, lanterns, and a fire pit to create the perfect camping paradise. Your dad can chop the wood while you gather the kindling, and together, you will make a raging campfire for the evening.
Gather around the glowing embers and roast marshmallows, hotdogs, and skewers while taking turns telling scary stories and reminiscing with Pops about all your favorite memories together. This fun-filled event is perfect for the whole family to enjoy and a fantastic way to spend Father’s Day. Keep pests away from the entertainment by insect proofing your outdoors areas.
Drop the Mic
If your dad is a fan of the classics, he will love belting out some “oldies but goodies” with family and friends at a Father’s Day karaoke night!. Line up some of his favorite tracks on a playlist, bring out the karaoke machine, complete with lyrics playing on the TV and a booming stereo setup, then let the night commence.
Amp up the fun with some liquid courage so everyone can take the stage and be a superstar for the night. For extra flair, make a signature drink that mixes all the flavors that match your dad’s personality. Everyone will be singing and dancing the night away during this memorable Father’s Day soiree.
Roll of the Dice
Let your old man channel his inner James Bond by putting together an elegant casino night for his big day. You can easily transform your patio into a flashy Vegas casino with some simple decorations and props. Bring out some tables and a couple decks for classic card games like Black Jack and Poker.
Decorate the area with bistro lights, and satin pillow covers to give it a glamorous touch, and don’t forget the drinks for an authentic experience. Extra points if you make Dad the classic Vesper Martini – shaken, not stirred.
Water Works
Since Father’s Day falls near the first day of summer, the weather is perfect for a splashing field day! If you don’t have a pool, you can still create a backyard water park with water balloons, sprinklers, and a slip-n-slide. To avoid any damage to your furniture, make sure to throw on some chair and sectional covers to keep them dry during the festivities.
Bring out your dad’s inner child by playing water-themed games and activities like bobbing for apples, water balloon dodgeball, and sprinkler red light, green light. It’ll be exhilarating and refreshing at the same time as the family gathers for some summer fun on your dad’s special day.
Fort Slumber
Nothing says adventure like navigating through the coolest pillow fort your dad has ever seen. Although unconventional, there is a lot more room in your backyard to build the fort, so make the most of the space and surprise your dad with this magnificent creation.
You will need a lot of sturdy chairs, protected with chair covers, to act as support beams and plenty of blankets, sheets, cushions, and a large area rug.
How to build it:
- Line up about six chairs parallel to each other, making two rows of three chairs, which will be your tunnel entryway.
- Next, create a circle of chairs on one end of the two rows – this will act as the living space of the fort.
- Toss the bedsheets over the two rows of chairs to create a roof for the tunnel, and secure them in place with clothespins all along the edge.
- Do the same with the circular opening, and if the bed sheet isn’t big enough to reach the other end of the circle, just combine two sheets with another clothespin.
- Lay out the blankets on the floor of the tunnel and place the area rug as the floor for the living space.
Throw in some pillows and extra blankets, and bring in a laptop so you and your pops can cozy up and watch his favorite movie in your castle of blankets. Having a Father’s Day slumber party is a unique and memorable way to spend quality time with your favorite guy.
